Lillian T. Cat, the Silver Shaded Persian depicted above, is my live in companion who, I suspect, feels that she owns me. I also count Jackson, the Maltese in my arms, as a close friend. Both were adopted from rescue organizations I support. My love for Lily and Jackson, and the realization that pets do so much to enrich the lives of their owners, inspired me to become a pet law specialist. That commitment is renewed every day when I see how many homeless pets are being offered for adoption by private rescue organizations and public shelters.
I attended Pepperdine University where I majored in history and minored in German, the latter facilitated by the Year in Europe program I attended in Heidelberg. After graduating in 1970, I spent three years at USC's Gould School of Law. After graduating in 1973, I developed my legal skills while practicing in a corporate law department and in small firms. For the last twenty years I have been the principal in the Law Offices of Steven D. Wegner.
I welcome the opportunity to use this office's resources in any situation that involves a four-footed family member. Because my firm exists to protect your legal rights and the welfare of your pets, I provide services in the following areas:
Protecting your right to have a pet in your home;
Providing a defense in court or administrative proceedings
when local authorities accuse your dog of being potentially
dangerous or vicious;
Recovering damages when your pet is injured by
a negligent or intentional act;
Dealing with complaints that your pet constitutes a
nuisance;
Insuring through the creation of a pet trust that your
pet is well cared for when you are no longer able to do so;
and
Insuring that all your other legal rights are protected.
I am a member of the Humane Society and actively supports its many programs to make the world a better place for animals. I am a voracious reader about the doings of animals and will share some of my most interesting discoveries and stories on the All About Animals page. I enjoy talking walks with Jackson and am continually amazed at how many things Jackson finds to smell.
I will be happy to respond to any inquiries through my Contact page. I look forward to providing a brief free consultation if doing so can help you or your pet. There is, after all, nothing more important than protecting a family member.
